Dimensional Control of Flat Products (Sheets)
This type of device is designed for precise 2D and 3D dimensional control of flat products on production lines as well as at stand-alone workstations.
A specific application of this type uses the device to measure sheets on a formatting line. In addition to checking the overall shape (square/rectangle), the diagonals are also measured to determine the squareness of the sheet cutting.
The camera scanning head is moved by a Cartesian robot specifically designed for this task. It can reach speeds of up to 3m/s.
The camera scanning head is also equipped with a special illuminator that allows it to capture different colours and surface structures of the product.
The measurement sequence usually ranges from 10-30 seconds depending on the size of the format. The entire measurement takes place directly on the production line, and the measured data is sent to a database for feedback control of production and for printing protocols for end customers. The captured data is also archived for potential further statistical processing.
An integral part of the system is the operational verification of the device, which is initiated by its own programme. Verification fixtures are included to check the accuracy of the measurements and can be integrated directly into the production line to minimise downtime.
